ashes, dried flowers, spray paint, gouache, watercolor, colored pencils, pastels, and resin on canvas
Currently hanging and for sale at HOME in Acton, MA
Many heavy personal events led to the creation of this piece, which featured two firsts for me: the use of ashes from an item I’d burned and the use of resin to keep these ashes and other materials adhered to the canvas and protected from the elements. For whatever reason, resin had always seemed like a mysterious vehicle to me, one that I didn’t want to get too close to or involved with simply because it was unfamiliar. Imagine my surprise and delight when I discovered both the ease of using it and how useful it can be.
